What does “Voted Best Orthodontist” in a magazine really mean?

In most cases, it means that the business voted best has probably taken out a paid advertisement in the magazine. In the April 2012 AJO-DO Journal, Peter Greco states “Quality in specialty care is not determined by an election or by a public-opinion poll. Quality is an attribute that is developed over time, comprising clinical expertise, effective practice management, and old-fashioned compassion for every patient.”
