Elective procedures such as plastic surgery and orthodontics have been particularly hard hit by the economy. Many orthodontists saw their business off by 30% at the worst of the economic downturn. As a result orthodontics have had to examine their business operations to eliminate unnecessary expense. Orthodontic fees have been kept affordable by cutting delivery expense and offering finance plans to patients. Orthodontic fees have been level in comparison to the alarming rate rise of many other products such as milk or petroleum fuels.
