Mouth guards reduce sports related dental injuries.

Eleven to eighteen percent of all sports related injuries are to the face. The major method of preventing mouth injuries is wearing a mouth guards. Use a mouth guard prescribed by your orthodontist rather than a "boil and bite" type of mouth guard. Boil and bite mouth guards tend to hold the teeth where they were on the day the mouth guard was molded to them. Orthodontists prefer mouth guards that allow the teeth to move freely while being protected at the same time.
