Soothing Recipes

A variety of soft, nutritious, tasty foods are the key to soothing teeth have been adjusted recently. Hard foods can be made softer by chopping, blending, mashing and cooking. Cutting foods into small pieces will minimize the amount of chewing. Eating slower will decrease the likelihood of biting your cheeks and tongue. Many of the following recipes use these principles.

Fruit Punch

Ingredients:

1 chopped banana
1/2 cup of fresh berries
1 cup of pineapple, lime, grape or orange juice

    Instructions:

  1. Blend all ingredients for 30 seconds in blender
  2. Chill thoroughly
  3. Pour and enjoy

 Milkshake

Ingredients:

1 cup of ice cold milk
1/2 cup of fresh fruit
2 tablespoon of honey, molasses, maple or chocolate syrup

    Instructions:

  1. Blend all ingredients for 30 seconds in blender.
  2. Pour and enjoy

Eggnog

Ingredients:

1 egg
1/2 teaspoon of vanilla
2 tablespoon of sugar
2/3 cup if cold milk
1/4 teaspoon of grated nutmeg

    Instructions:

  1. Blend egg, vanilla, sugar, milk for 30 seconds in blender.
  2. Pour into glass
  3. Sprinkle nutmeg over top and enjoy

Curry Soup

Ingredients:

1 apple
1 small onion
4 cups consommé
1 cup cream
curry powder

    Instructions:

  1. Blend apple and onion in blender until mashed
  2. Combine consommé with apple-onion mash and simmer for 20 minutes
  3. Strain
  4. Add cream
  5. Season with curry powder to taste
  6. Pour and enjoy hot or chilled

Cream of Vegetable Soup

Ingredients:

1/2 cup of cooked vegetables, mashed or chopped
1 1/2 cups of milk
1 slice of onion
1 bouillon cube

    Instructions:

  1. Heat ingredients for 20 minutes
  2. Blend heated mixture in blender for 1 minute
  3. Salt and pepper to taste

Poached Eggs

Ingredients:

1/2 teaspoon of vinegar
1/2 teaspoon of salt
3 cups of water
1 egg

    Instructions:

  1. Pour water with salt and vinegar into a heavy frying pan and bring to a boil.
  2. Break egg in a cup and slip it into the water gently.
  3. Remove the skillet from heat and allow eggs to cook in water for 5 minutes.
  4. Remove eggs from pan with a skimmer
  5. Season with salt and pepper to taste

Cheese Omelet

Ingredients:

4 eggs
3/4 cup of water
1/2 teaspoon of salt
1/8 teaspoon of pepper
2 tablespoons butter
1/4 cup of grated cheese

    Instructions:

  1. Beat eggs slightly
  2. Add water, salt and pepper and cheese
  3. Melt butter in a small omelet pan
  4. Add eggs to pan when butter begins to sizzle
  5. Brown slightly and fold over

Stuffed Baked Potato

Ingredients:

1 potato
1 tablespoon sour cream
1 teaspoon of chives

    Instructions:

  1. Bake potato in oven or microwave
  2. Scope out the potato insides from the skin
  3. Mash the potato insides with butter, milk, sour cream and chives
  4. Refill the potato skins with the potato mixture
  5. Bake to re-warm and serve

Quiche

Ingredients:

1 store bought pie shell
1/8 teaspoon of pepper
2 cup shredded cheese
1/2 teaspoon of salt
1 cup cream
1/2 cup of finely chopped onion
1/2 cup of finely chopped green peppers
5 beaten eggs
8 oz of shredded cheese
1 tablespoon cooking oil

    Instructions:

  1. Sauté the vegetables with the cooking oil in a skillet.
  2. Place sautéed vegetables in the pie shell.
  3. Scatter half the cheese over the vegetables.
  4. Pour the eggs and cream over the cheese and vegetables.
  5. Cover with the rest of the cheese and bake at 375 degrees for 40 minutes.

 Fondue

Ingredients:

1 cup of milk
1/4 cup of soft bread crumbs
1/4 pound mild cheese, cut small
1 tablespoon butter
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 eggs separated into yolks and whites

    Instructions:

  1. Scald milk in a saucepan
  2. Stir in bread crumbs, cheese, butter and salt
  3. Cook over low heat until smooth then remove from heat
  4. Stir in 2 egg yolks that have been beaten
  5. Cut and fold in 2 egg whites that have been beaten
  6. Pour mixture into a 1 quart buttered casserole
  7. Bake 20 minutes at 350 degrees

Gazpacho

Ingredients:

1 diced clove of garlic
1/2 teaspoon of salt
2 tablespoon of olive oil
5 ripe tomatoes cut into pieces
1 chopped onion
1/4 teaspoon of pepper
1/4 teaspoon of paprika
1 1/2 tablespoons of vinegar
1 1/2 cups of cold bouillon
1/4 cup of bread crumbs

    Instructions:

  1. Blend garlic, salt, olive oil, tomatoes, onion, pepper, paprika, vinegar, and bouillon for 3 or 4 minutes in a blender.
  2. Let mixture stand for 1 hour
  3. Stir in bread crumbs

Baked Fish Fillets

Ingredients:

Salt
Pepper
Lemon juice
1 filleted fish
butter

    Instructions:

  1. Place fish on a buttered baking pan
  2. Sprinkle with salt, pepper and lemon juice
  3. Dot with butter
  4. Bake at 400 degrees until fish flakes with a fork

Tuna Pasta

Ingredients:

1 box of macaroni and cheese
1/2 cup of milk
1 can of tuna
1 can of condensed cream of mushroom soup

    Instructions:

  1. Prepare macaroni and cheese as per box directions
  2. Stir in mushroom soup, milk and tuna
  3. Heat to serving temperature

Chili con Carne

Ingredients:

1 pound of ground beef
1 onion finely diced
1 can of red kidney beans
2 cups of stewed tomatoes
1 tablespoon of chili powder
salt
paprika

    Instructions:

  1. Add the onion, ground beef, garlic, kidney beans, tomatoes, and chili powder to a heated fry pan
  2. Simmer 1 hour stirring occasionally
  3. Remove the skillet from heat and allow eggs to cook in water for 5 minutes.
  4. Season to taste with salt and paprika
  5. Season with salt and pepper to taste

Mashed Potatoes

Ingredients:

6 Potatoes
1/2 cup of hot milk
2 tablespoons butter
salt
pepper

    Instructions:

  1. Peal potatoes and cut into pieces
  2. Cook the potatoes in boiling water and then drain water.
  3. Heat milk with butter
  4. Mash potatoes with a potato masher while adding hot milk butter mixture
  5. Re-heat over low heat to serving temperature
  6. Season with salt and pepper to taste

Spaghetti

Ingredients:

1 eight ounce package of spaghetti
1 jar of sauce of your choice

    Instructions:

  1. Over cook spaghetti in boiling salted water to make extra tender
  2. Heat sauce
  3. Drain spaghetti and cover with sauce

Maryland Crab Cakes

Ingredients:

1 pound of crab meat with ALL cartilage removed
1 cup of soft bread crumbs
1 large egg
1/4 cup of mayonnaise
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon dry mustard
1/4 teaspoon pepper
oil for frying

    Instructions:

  1. Mix bread crumbs, egg, mayonnaise, crab meat, and seasonings in a bowl
  2. Shape into 6 cakes
  3. Cook cakes in a fry pan about 5 minutes on each side until lightly browned

Cream of Crab Soup

Ingredients:

1 stick melted butter
1/3 cup of corn starch or flour
1 cup of chicken broth
2 cups of half and half
3 cups of milk
1/2  of a small cream cheese package
1 pound of crab meat with ALL cartilage removed
1 teaspoon of Worcestershire sauce

    Instructions:

  1. Melt butter in pan over medium heat
  2. Stir in corn starch, chicken broth, half and half, Worcestershire sauce, cream cheese, and crab meat
  3. Bring mixture to a slight boil to thicken
  4. Pour into bowls and serve

Cheese Cake

Ingredients:

2 tablespoons corn starch
1 cup of sugar
1 large egg
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 cup of heavy cream
4 packages of 8 ounce cream cheese
1 Keebler graham cracker preformed pie shell

    Instructions:

  1. Hand mix cream cheese, sugar, heavy cream, egg, corn starch and vanilla in a bowl
  2. Spoon mix into pie shell
  3. Bake at 400 degrees for approximately 45 minutes

Pumpkin Pie

Ingredients:

3 eggs
1/2 cup of dark brown sugar
1/2 cup of white sugar
1 tablespoon flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon pumpkin spice
3 teaspoons cinnamon
1 1/2 cups of mashed pumpkin
1 1/2 cups of heated evaporated milk
1 Keebler preformed pie shell

    Instructions:

  1. Mix flour, eggs, sugar, salt, pumpkin spice, cinnamon, mashed pumpkin and evaporated milk in a bowl
  2. Spoon mix into shell
  3.  Bake in oven at 350 degrees for 50-60 minutes

Deviled Eggs

Ingredients:

3 shelled hard boiled eggs
1 1/2 tablespoons mayonnaise
1 1/2 tablespoons chili sauce
1/2 diced onion
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon pepper
1/4 teaspoon dry mustard

    Instructions:

  1. Cut eggs in half lengthwise separating yolks from whites
  2. Blend egg yolks and other ingredients in blender on medium speed until smooth
  3. Fill egg whites with blended mixture
  4. Chill and serve

Potato Pancakes

Ingredients:

1 egg
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 diced small onion
1 1/2 tablespoons flour
1/8 teaspoon baking powder
1/8 cup of milk
1 1/2 cups of cubed raw potatoes

    Instructions:

  1. Blend egg, onion, salt, flour, baking powder, milk, in blender until smooth
  2. Pour into a greased fry pan forming pancakes
  3. Cook until brown on both sides
  4. Season with salt and pepper to taste

Scrambled Eggs

Ingredients:

9 tablespoons milk
9 eggs
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
4 tablespoons of butter

    Instructions:

  1. Blend ingredients in blender at medium speed until smooth
  2. Pour egg mixture into greased fry pan and cook slowly over low heat
  3. Stir egg mixture while cooking until eggs thick and creamy
  4. Serve
