Two Smile Surveys

1) The Invisalign Smile Survey was conducted by telephone by Harris Interactive on behalf of Align Technology Inc. The study was conducted on a representative sample of 1000 American adults - both men and women --between 18 and 50 years of age. The poll explored the importance of smiles in relation to business and careers, dating and marriage, the social arena, and the overall value of smiles and self-esteem. Results:

2) A recent survey by the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry found:

Nine out of every ten adults in America consider an attractive smile to be an important social asset.
Eight out of ten believe that an unattractive smile makes a person less appealing to the opposite sex.
Three fourths suspect that an unattractive smile can negatively impact their career opportunities.

3) A recent survey of almost 900 people by the University of Michigan found:

Persons with a normal occlusion or bite were rated as most attractive, intelligent, and extraverted. People with an "underbite" (bottom teeth are more forward than the top teeth) were rated least positively. People with multiple spaces between their teeth were rated low for conscientiousness and agreeableness.Younger people were more critical of people with poor bites. This could put people with poor bites at a disadvantage in the dating scene and when being interviewed for employment or promotion by younger supervisors.
